Bacardi Anejo Cuatro Aged 4 Years. Every few years (or is it months?) Bacardi seems to unveil its latest “Premium” offerings. Earlier this year Bacardi once again unveiled some new “Premium” expressions in the form of a new 8 and 10 year old rum.
What took me by surprise was the inclusion of a new Gold rum aged for 4 years. It surprised me as it has landed right from release straight into one the UK’s largest supermarkets – ASDA.
Havana Club Ritual Cubano. This Havana Club release has been around since 2012. It was created for the Spanish market. In Spain light Cuban or Latin style rum is very popular.
Ultimatum Sancti Spiritus 1999 Cuban Rum. Ultimatum are a relatively new bottler. Most of their products are coming out of Dutch retailers so I assume they are based somewhere around there. Ultimatum Rum seems to be an off-shoot of the Little Distiller.
Santiago de Cuba 12 Anos Extra Anejo is rumoured to have been Fidel Castro’s favourite rum. Which is interesting. A lot of the reasons why researching Cuban rum can be so complex is down to him and his revolution!
Ron Vigia are a Cuban rum brand. After that it all gets a bit more complicated. Once again trying to research a Cuban Rum is difficult – to be honest at times it gets pretty annoying. Nevertheless I’ve done my best and tried to patch together the limited information I can get about this Communist Export.
Ron Caney Anejo Centuria – another Cuban rum I picked up in Spain. Which seems to be the place to go if you want lower to mid level Cuban rum. At a very reasonable price.
Kill Devil are and ever increasing range of Independently bottled rums from Whisky bottler Hunter Laing. Unsurprisingly perhaps Whisky based online retailers such as The Whisky Exchange and Master of Malt have been stocking their rums from the outset.
