Old Jamaique Long Pond 1977 Aged 35 Years

Old Jamaique Rum Aged 35 Years Long Pond 1977 review by the fat rum piratOld Jamaique Long Pond 1977.  A rum older than me – just.  From the Long Pond Distillery in Jamaica.  A distillery which I have become increasingly interested in, over the past year or so.

Old Jamaique is a collaboration between Scottish bottling giant Ian MacLeod and the Belgian Independent bottler Corman-Collins. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Bacardi Reserva Limitada

Bacardi Reserva Limitada Rum Founders Reserve Rum Review by the fat rum pirateBacardi Reserva Limitada has long been Bacardi’s most “Premium” offering.  As seems to be the way with “Premium” rum producers rather than do anything remotely interesting, different or innovative they tend to just re-hash the same old thing.  Repeating the same things which initially gave them success.  Which kind of becomes a bit boring. Don Q Oak Barrel Spiced

Don Q Oak Barrel Spiced Rum Review by the fat rum pirateDon Q Oak Barrel Spiced. Don Q are a rum producer from Puerto Rico. Availability of their rums has increased dramatically over the past couple of years.  Thanks, in no small part to the efforts of Global Rum Ambassador Alexx Mouzouris.  Don Q rum is now widely available in the UK and I would recommend trying their range to anyone interested in trying a light column distilled style of rum without additives.  Which is a bit of a rarity these days. Ultimatum Sancti Spirits 1999 Cuban Rum 18 Year Old

Ultimatum Rum Sancti Spiritus 18 Year Old Review by the fat rum pirateUltimatum Sancti Spiritus 1999 Cuban Rum. Ultimatum are a relatively new bottler.  Most of their products are coming out of Dutch retailers so I assume they are based somewhere around there.  Ultimatum Rum seems to be an off-shoot of the Little Distiller.

They have released a number of bottlings over the past year or so (I have a few more yet to review) and have received generally positive feedback for their efforts.  The first thing they have been commended on is the price.  They are very reasonably priced. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Silver Seal Dennery Superior St Lucian Rum

Silver Seal Dennery Superior St Lucian Rum Review by the fat rum piratSilver Seal Dennery Superior St Lucian Rum. The use of the “Dennery Distillery” on this bottling (and others) by Silver Seal has caused quite a lot of consternation from those currently involved at St Lucia Distillers.  Dennery is a completely different site to where the only St Lucian rum producer – St Lucia Distillers are now housed. Liberte Black Spiced Rum

Liberte Black Spiced Rum Review by the fat rum pirate Liberte Black Spiced Rum is a new entrant to the ever expanding Spiced Rum market. Liberte Black Spiced Rum is actually a supermarket “own brand”.  This one hails from German discount supermarket Lidl.

It has already received a bit of coverage in the press as perhaps being an alternative to the ever Popular “The Kraken”.  The Kraken pretty much has the “Dark Spiced” market sewn up.  For some reason despite the ongoing popularity of Morgan’s Spiced Gold – the Captain Morgan company have done little to promote or make available their Black Spiced Rum in the UK.  Despite making it pretty much a Kraken knock off in terms of appearance. Neptune Golden Rum Aged 3 Years

Neptune Golden Rum Aged 3 Years Rum Review by the fat rum pirateNeptune is a new rum brand from the UK.  Unsurprisingly whilst the brand is from the UK the actual rum is not.  Neptune Golden Rum is a 3 year old rum from Barbados. The rum is actually from Foursquare distillery.  Effectively what we are getting here is a “gold” version of Doorly’s iconic three year old white rum. Kind of.
