Foursquare Rum Distilery Principia. Finding things to say about Foursquare Distillery and Richard Seale are becoming increasingly difficult. I’m not sure how many Foursquare releases I have reviewed over the past 3 or so years. It must be over 20 easily by now.
When I first got into rum, Foursquare were a respected distillery with a long history in producing classic Bajan rums, such as R L Seale’s and Doorly’s XO. There wasn’t a great deal of change to their portfolio, year in year out. That all changed in 2015 when Richard Seale revived the Exceptional Cask Series and began working more closely with Velier’s Luca Gargano.
Velier Caroni 100% Trinidad Rum Aged 21 Years. Velier have in recent years become synonymous with Caroni Trinidad Rum.
Mount Gay Silver. The term “silver” when referring to white rum is not commonly used in releases in the UK and Europe. It seems to be a US thing. I suppose calling it silver rum makes as much sense as calling it white. It’s neither after all – clear rum if anything.
Compagnie des Indes (East India Company) Jamaica New Yarmouth 12 Year old rum. Compagnie des Indes are an independent bottler from France.
Havana Club Ritual Cubano. This Havana Club release has been around since 2012. It was created for the Spanish market. In Spain light Cuban or Latin style rum is very popular.
Rum Nation Rare Rums Engenho Novo. Rum Nation are an Italian Independent bottler. Their “Rare Rums” series is a new venture by them in 2017. They have released a number of rums in this series. They are noted as being “Small Batch” rather than Single Cask.
Botran Ron Anejo Reserva Blanca from Casa Botran. Botran are a rum producer from Guatemala home of course of Ron Zacapa.
