Bacardi Facundo Exquisito Rum

Bacardi Facundo Exquisito Rum Review by the fat rum pirateBacardi Facundo Exquisito Rum. This rum is part of Bacardi’s Facundo range. The range is named after the original founder of Bacardi Don Facundo Bacardi Masso. Bacardi Facundo Exquisito Rum is the mid tier of the range.

Bacardu Facundo Exquisito Rum retails at around £100. Which is slightly less expensive than their flagsip Reserva Limitada. Bacardi Facundo Exquisto (meaning to be free) is distilled on multi column stills in Puerto Rico. It is a blend of rums aged between 7 and 23 years old. It has been bottled at a very conservative 40% ABV. The rum is aged in ex-bourbon casks before being blended and aged for a further month in ex-sherry casks. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Black Tot Rum – Finest Caribbean

Black Tot Rum Finest Caribbean Rum Review by the fat rum pirateBlack Tot Rum – Finest Caribbean. Ahhh,.Black Tot is back again. Almost 50 years since it was decommissioned, back in July 1970. This is the third “Black Tot Rum” in the series of rums released by Elixir Distillers.

It is also (by far) the cheapest of those rums. The first Black Tot Rum was The Last Consignment which was believed to be produced using stocks of authentic British Royal Navy rum. These stocks had been stored in stone flagons, following the abolition of the tot and kept at various Army and Navy bases around the UK. It originally retailed at around £650 and you would now be looking in excess of £1500 for a bottle on the secondary market. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Bacardi Anejo

Bacardi Anejo Rum Review by the fat rum pirateBacardi Anejo. Aside from the usual Bacardi bottles you find in the Supermarket and Duty Free a trip to the continent (and further a field) can often throw up a few more variations from the Puerto Rican rum powerhouses.

I picked up this bottle of Bacardi Anejo in May 2019 on holiday in Salou. I think the 1 litre bottle was around €15. I’d not seen this particular expression before. I could tell from the presentation (and the dustiness) of the bottle that it was not a “new” release. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Hattiers Premium Reserve Rum

Hattiers Premium Reserve Rum Review by the fat rum pirateHattiers Premium Reserve Rum. Blended rum (particularly from multi islands) has been on the decline recently, in terms of new products. I can’t think of all that many multi island blends that have popped up recently. Unfortunately this has been mainly due to the sheer volume of Spiced Rum which is constantly entering the low and mid range of the market. You don’t need any multi island blend for much of that rubbish. Just cheap base spirit from Trinidad. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
