Ron Los Valientes Aged 15 Anos Anejo Especial. This is a rum hailing from Mexico. In Mexico rum is often referred to as Charanda. I’ve previously reviewed Mocambo which also hails from Mexico. I also have a few other samples of Charanda lurking about that I need toLico find time to write about.
Santa Teresa 1796 Solera Rum. This is a re-review. I originally reviewed this back in 2015. At the time it was my 100th review. To be honest I’ve since stopped counting but we must be approaching 500 by now.
Anyway Santa Teresa are a rum producer from Venezuela. This 1796 rum was originally released back in 1996 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Hacienda Santa Teresa distillery.
Foursquare Rum Distillery Destino Velier 70th Anniversay Release. This was released in 2017 as part of the Velier “Drop by Drop” anniversary series. At the time of release this was limited to just 500 bottles.
We are currently awaiting the “general” release of Foursquare Rum Distillery Destino. The Warren Khong artwork used in these 500 bottles was exclusive to the Velier release. The release of Destino we currently await will be feature the more standard Velier artwork.
Don Papa Rum Aged 10 Years. Alongside Bumbu, Don Papa have become the poster boys for adultered rum masquerading as premium. You could throw a few other rums into the mix, that use additives but Don Papa’s offerings are met with dismay and derision by most serious rum enthusiasts.
Perhaps the biggest reason for this is the sheer success of the brand. So not content with offering us a 7 Year Old version of their delicious elixir they felt that a further aged version of their wonderous concoction, was just what the rum world needed.
Virgin Gorda 1493 Spanish Heritage Rum. Virgin Gorda is a rum brand from London. The rum is produced and distributed by The Poshmakers
I have to confess prior to trying this rum I had not heard of The Poshmakers and their other brands (two gins and a vodka) aren’t familiar to me. Maybe they just haven’t reached us up here in the Frozen North.
Cana Brava Reserva Aneja Aged 7 Years. This is a product from the The 86 Co. – Noise and Spirits is their tagline and they have certainly done well in recent years with their range of products. If you wish to read more about the company here is there website.
As you might expect from the slick appearance of The 86 Co.’s website they have also set up a pretty sleek looking site for the Cana Brava range – they also have a 3-year-old white rum.
