Compagnie des Indes Guyana Aged 29 Years Enmore Still

Compagnie des Indes Guyana Aged 29 Years Enmore Still rum review by the fat rum pirateCompagnie des Indes Guyana Aged 29 Years Enmore Still. Compagnie des Indes are a French Independent bottler headed up by Florian Beuchet. They have been around for about 5-6 years now, if my memory serve me right. So they are one of the newer kids on the block.

Imports of the Compagnie des Indes range have been slow to the UK. We now get a few bottlings but it is much easier to find their Single Cask and Blended rums online in Europe. Compagnie des Indes bottle Single Casks of rum at Cask Strength and at the more pedestrian 40-46% range. They also have a range of blended rums which they produce in small batches to try and have a continuous (if slightly different) product available at a more accessible price point, particularly for those experimenting with rum. Appleton Estate 8 Reserve

Appleton Estate 8 Reserve Rum Review by the fat rum pirateAppleton Estate 8 Reserve. Whenever a new bottle design is revealed in the rum world, it’s immediately met with suspicion of price increases and changes to the liquid. Downgrading of the liquid of course no rum gets better in time you must understand!

For once the conspiracists are right – well they are about the slight price increase and the change in the liquid. The blend in this is different to its predecessor. Quite whether the quality has increased or decreased, well I’ll come to that later in the review. First I’ll give you all the background I have on this particular release and the recent history of this “mid tier” Appleton Estate rum. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Borgoe Reserve Collection Aged 12 Years

Borgoe Reserve Collection Aged 12 Years Rum review by the fat rum pirateBorgoe Reserve Collection Aged 12 Years. Suriname is perhaps not the first place you might think about being a rum producer. To be perfectly honest thoughts by me about Suriname in my lifetime have been fairly brief. The only real thing I know about Suriname is that it is a former Dutch Colony and several notable players for the Netherlands football team were born there such as Edgar Davids, Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink and Clarence Seedorf. Foursquare Rum Distillery 2008

Foursquare Rum Distillery 2008 Rum Review by the fat rum pirateFoursquare Rum Distillery 2008. There was a popular Pop Hit some years ago by the Boy/Girl Groups Steps called 5,6,7,8, which immediately came to mind when I first saw Foursquare 2008.

Quite why is a bit questionable, as although they have released a Foursquare 2005,2006,2007 and 2008 one of those was the “Black” (or should that be Golden) sheep of the family. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

William Hinton Rum 6 Anos

William Hinton Rum 6 Anos Rum review by the fat rum pirateWilliam Hinton Rum 6 Anos. William Hinton are a rum brand from the Portuguese island of Madeira. I’ve covered a few brands and rums from Madeira but not William Hinton. Which was a bit of a surprise when I came to review this particular rum.

I honestly thought I had reviewed at least one William Hinton rum! Anyway, lets give you a little bit of information on the William Hinton brand. Despite only recently coming to more global attention – perhaps due to the general rise in interest in Agricole Rhum, rum was been produced on Madeira for hundreds of years. Indeed the cultivation of Sugar Cane has been a key part of the islands economy for many years and has increased considerably in recent times. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Original Soggy Dollar Old Dark Rum

Original Soggy Dollar Old Dark Rum review by the fat rum pirateOriginal Soggy Dollar Old Dark Rum. The Soggy Dollar is a bar situated in the British Virgin Isles, Jost Van Dyke isle to be exact. It is perhaps most famous for it’s claim to be the original creators of the famed Pusser’s Painkiller cocktail. You can read a little more on that story here. The Real McCoy Aged 14 Years Limited Edition

The Real McCoy Aged 14 Years Limited Edition Rum review by the fat rum pirate The Real McCoy Aged 14 Years Limited Edition. It has been pretty difficult, make that nigh on impossible to keep track of every bottling that has hailed from Foursquare over the past few years. There are a huge variety of Official Bottlings (OB’s), Independent Bottlings (IB’s), collaborations between OB’s and IB’s and finally Rum Brands such as The Real McCoy working with Foursquare.
