Requiem SS Ferret Australian Pot Still Rum

Requiem SS Ferret Australian Pot Still Rum review by the fat rum pirateRequiem SS Ferret Australian Pot Still Rum. I was going to leave the title of this bottling as Requiem SS Ferret – but I thought it looked a bit strange! So I’ve added another prominent feature, on the front label to the title.

I’ve not reviewed many rums from Australia. Despite a dreadful experience with Bundaberg, I wouldn’t say I’ve been put off trying Australian rum. Logistically though, its just difficult to get my hands on any Australian rum. Very little is imported into Europe and buying from Australia seems a bit of a headache. Foursquare Rum Distillery Redoubtable

Foursquare Rum Distillery Redoubtable rum review by the fat rum pirateFoursquare Rum Distillery Redoubtable. The Exceptional Cask Series from Foursquare shows no signs of letting up. This is the XV marque so the 15th release in the series. Which started with relatively little fanfare, with the now much sought after 1998 release. How things have changed.

This particular rum is, according to Richard Seale, the follow up to last years Nobiliary.. As far as the name is concerned Redoubtable means “formidable” or “very strong”. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Foursquare Rum Distillery Sassafras

Foursquare Rum Distillery Sassafras Rum review by the fat rum pirateFoursquare Rum Distillery Sassafras. Had Foursquare called their iconic first collaboration with Velier Sassafras instead of 2006 – then this rum could have been called Sassafras 2. This release is essentially 2006, only older to all intents and purposes.

We’ve not seen a lot of Foursquare rum that has been matured in ex-cognac casks. The excellent 2013 and 2006 being the only ones I can think of. Sadly for me those are both rums which I no longer have access to. I did buy multiple bottles of the 2013 and intended to keep a bottle back. Unfortunately, I ended up drinking it. The Duchess Guyana 27 Years Old Rum

The Duchess Guyana 27 Years Old Rum review by the fat rum pirateThe Duchess Guyana 27 Years Old Rum. The Duchess are back in 2021 with another release in their Tropical Hummingbirds series. These rums got a lot of positive reviews (not just from me) and comments in 2020. Here’s hoping Nils Van Rijn, the man behind the brand can continue his excellent barrel picks! Hampden Estate 2010 VIREO Single Cask #488 TWE Exclusive

Hampden Estate 2010 VIREO Single Cask #488 TWE Exclusive rum review by the fat rum pirateHampden Estate 2010 VIREO Single #488 TWE Exclusive. I could have titled this particular rum any number of different ways such is the information afforded to us on this particular bottling. However the Search Engine Optimisation likes things a lot shorter than even this title, so I’ll explain more about the bottling in this review. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Ron Izalco Rum Cask Strength Aged 15 Years

Ron Izalco Rum Cask Strength Aged 15 Years review by the fat rum pirateRon Izalco Rum Cask Strength Aged 15 Years. This brand is produced by California based Phenomenal Spirts, which are headed up Karthik Sudhir. Not putting any pressure on yourself with name are you Karthik?

I actually met Karthik in September 2019 at a tasting of his rum at Trailer Happiness in London. It was a complete fluke really that I was down London for work purposes and was able to attend. Usually I miss out on such events being up here in the frozen north. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Chairman’s Reserve Master’s Selection – UK Rum Club Exclusive

Chairman's Reserve Master's Selection - UK Rum Club Exclusive rum review by the fat rum pirateChairman’s Reserve Master’s Selection – UK Rum Club Exclusive. This particular post isn’t going to be quite what you might be expecting. It’s not MY review of the Chairman’s Reserve Master’s Selection – UK Rum Club Exclusive.

No, I’ve chosen not to review the 100% Vendome Pot Still single cask number 173, which was chosen by Steven James (Rum Diaries Blog) and myself. It would in my mind be a bit pointless and could easily cause a lot of criticism, if I gave what was effectively my own bottling a 5 star rating, for example. I’ve recently reviewed the Chairman’s Reserve Legacy which I also recommend! Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
