Six Saints Caribbean Rum

Six Saints Caribbean Rum Review by the fat rum pirateSix Saints Caribbean Rum. Hailing from the island of Grenada via spirits importer Crucial Drinks comes Six Saints Caribbean Rum. I was told some time ago that this rum was the “same” as Clarke Court’s Old Grog Rum. Quite who, when and where  was told that I don’t know.

Anyway, although I enjoyed Old Grog back in the day the review dates back to 2014, looking back I do think it had an almost artificial banana flavour added to it. Maybe I should get another sample and do a re-review? We’ll see. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Plantation Barbados Rum Aged 5 Years. This has been a staple and very well known rum for all the time I have Plantation Barbados Rum Aged 5 Years Rum Review by the fat rum piratehad an interest in rum. It’s been a good few years and a couple of bottle re-designs since I last bought a bottle.

Late last year I “cracked” and bought another bottle. I was due to go away with a couple of my mates who aren’t really rum drinkers. I figured I would see how the theory that this is a good entry level rum might pan out….. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Plantation Jamaica 2009 Long Pond CRV - The Whisky Exchange Exclusive Rum Review by the fat rum piratePlantation Jamaica 2009 Long Pond CRV – The Whisky Exchange Exclusive. It strikes me as quite fitting to be reviewing this rum, at this particular time. The Rum World is currently going to war. Well in parts of the Caribbean and Europe they are anyway.

Issues surrounding the Jamaica and Barbados GI’s have pretty came to a head. Even W.I.R.S.P.A. feeling the need to involve themselves. Tensions between Maison Ferrand (Plantation Rum) and other producers on the island have spilled out onto Social Media. Sides and battlelines have been drawn amongst distillers, bottlers, blenders, journalists, bloggers, enthusiasts and pretty much anyone else you can think of with an opinion on rums future. Some bridges have been burned irreparably I fear. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

S.B.S 1423 Single Barrel Selection Jamaica 2007 Rum review by the fat rum pirateS.B.S – The 1423 Single Barrel Selection Jamaica 2007 PX Cask Finish. Rums from Jamaica have really taken off again over the past couple of years. The renaissance of the Worthy Park Estate and Hampden finally bottling their own aged rum, along with a number of very interesting high ester Jamaican bottlings from the likes of Kill Devil and Letter of Marque. All this activity, has really invigorated Jamaican rum. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

That Boutique-y Rum Company Issan Rum Thailand

That Boutique-y Rum Company Issan Rum Thailand review by the fat rum pirateThat Boutique-y Rum Company Issan Rum Thailand. The Issan Distillery is situated in the North of Thailand. They release their own rums under the name of the distillery. I’m pretty sure they don’t have much of a distribution deal in Europe (particularly the UK) because I cannot recall seeing any of their own releases for sale here.
