Ninefold Distillery Barrel Aged Pure Single Rum – Release #2. We are back in Bonny Scotland and back at Kit Carruthers’ distillery in Dumfries and Galloway. Which is situated just 15 miles from the from the English border. Although it is over the “other side” of the country to myself it might actually be my nearest rum distillery.

Ninefold Distillery Nith Inshore Rescue Pure Single Rum. The unusual name of this rum is due to the fact it is a Charity bottling. The distillery – Ninefold should be familiar with readers of this blog as we have been keeping a close eye on their “Scottish Pure Single Rum” since they began production. Indeed we have both reviewed their products and interviewed owner/distiller Kit Carruthers.
Sugar House Blood Tub Rum Vintage 2018. I’ve seen a couple of reviews of this already. Now being anally retentive is not something I excel at.
However, I’ve deliberately added the “Vintage 2018” moniker to the review title because I suspect we will be seeing more iterations of “Blood Tub Rum” over the next few years. So I like to try and keep my review titles as relevant and as ordered as possible.
J Gow Revenge Aged 3 Years. This is the third aged release from VS Distillers, who are based in the Orkney Islands, just off the North East coast of Bonny Scotland. VS Distillers refers to the man behind J Gow Rum Collin Van chayk. Clever eh?
I’ve previously reviewed Fading Light and Hidden Depths (Vol 1) so if you are unfamiliar with VS Distillers, you might want to read up on those expressions as well. J Gow also produce a Spiced Rum, which I have yet to review.
SeaWolf Premium White Rum. This rum has been around for a while. Indeed it claims to be the first white rum to be distilled in Scotland. I wonder who distilled the first dark rum? Answers on a postcard please……..
Joking aside the brand has been around since 2016. I was aware of the brand but never heard much about it. so as a result it passed me by. SeaWolf Premium White Rum has been created by Mike Aikman and Jason Scott, who are behind the Edinburgh bars Bramble, The Last Word and the Lucky Liquor Co. The duo are joined by Gavin Ferguson who is the co-founder of wine merchant Vino Wines.
Ninefold Distillery Barrel Aged Pure Single Rum – Release #1. This is the first aged rum release from Scotland’s Ninefold Rum Distillery. It follows on from last years unaged release of Pot Still Pure Single Rum.
The distillery is situated in the South of Scotland at Dormont Home Farm, near Dalton in Dumfries and Galloway. The distillery is house in a converted stone farm building. Their rums are produced on a Scottish made Copper Pot Still. Should you wish to learn more about Ninefold Distillery then their website is a good start. An Interview with Kit Carruthers – Ninefold Distillery.
The Ninefold Distillery has only been active for just over a year. I have gotten to know Kit over the past year or so, through other Scottish Rum Producers such as Ross Bradley (Sugar House Rum) and Collin Van Schayk (J. Gow Rum).
Between them they are producing some of the best “home grown” rum in the British Isles. I have reviewed rum from all three of the above brands. I would heartily recommend reading over my reviews and perhaps picking up a bottle or two to try.
