Cloven Hoof Spiced Rum

Cloven Hoof Spiced Rum Review by the fat rum pirateCloven Hoof Spiced Rum is made by Guilty Libations, here in the UK in Oxfordshire.  Anyone who has attended the various Rum Festivals that have sprung up all around the UK in the past year may be familiar with the brand.

It is hard to miss.  Big, bold and very brash!  Cloven Hoof Spiced rum is blend of Guyanese and Trini rums. Mixed with (and I quote) “a mysterious concoction of natural spices”.  The presentation is almost Heavy Metal. Their website has several “endorsements” from various bands I have never heard of.  Nor do I like the look of. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

The Infamous Rum No. 01

Infamous Rum No1 Rum Review by the fat rum pirateThe Infamous Rum No. 01 is a Spiced Rum which hails from Belgium.  This Spiced Rum has been created by Infamous Designs and Concepts who bill themselves as Private Label Creators.  As to be excepted from such an operation they have a website.

The brand unsurprisingly offers a very slick, modern appearance. Having said that they haven’t went down the story-telling route of other Spiced Rum brands.  They are actually giving more information on the actual rum than 99% of Spiced Rum Brands.  The Infamous Rum No. 01 is currently only available in limited quantities, mostly in Belgium and the Netherlands.  They are looking to upscale production to keep up with demand. Bristol Classic Rum – Caroni 1997

Bristol Classic Rum Trinidad 1997 rum review by the fat rum pirateThe latest release from Bristol is this (near) Cask Strength effort from the Caroni Distillery.  Bristol have released a good few Caroni rums over the past few years.  Including their 1974 effort, which I have sadly yet to review.

Amongst these I seem to remember a Cask Strength Caroni which was possibly released for the Danish or European market only? Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Kill Devil Trinidad 2003 – 13 Year Old

Kill Devil Trinidad 2003 rum review by the fat rum pirateAnother independent bottling from Kill Devil.  This time we are taking a trip to Trinidad.  This rum is one of the first releases by Kill Devil to be released at Cask Strength.

As the rum is bottled at Cask Strength the packaging has been tweaked slightly.  The lozenge label on the tube and on the bottle are red/purple in colour rather than gold as on the 46% ABV rums. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Angostura No.1 First Edition

Angostura No 1 Cask Collection Rum Review by the fat rum pirateBack in 2013 Angostura announced the launch of No.1.  The first in a new collection of limited edition “Premium” rums.

This the “first” Angostura No.1 (yes they have called subsequent releases No.1 as well confusingly) is part of the companies Cask Collection.  The collection is a range of Premium Rums aged in select barrels.  Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Caroni 100% Trinidad Rum Aged 15 Years by Velier

Caroni Aged 15 Years Rum Review by the fat rum pirateCaroni Aged 15 Years is the older brother of the Aged 12 Years I reviewed earlier.  Both bottlings by Velier standards are relatively inexpensive.

Both rums are example of the “heavy” style of Caroni/Trinidad rum.  Angostura do not produce “heavy” style rum under their own banner. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Bristol Classic Rum Providence Estate 1990-2012

imageIn late 2015 a curious bottling of Trinidad rum – Providence Estate arrived on the scene from Bristol Classic Rum.  It certainly caught my attention somewhat more than perhaps yet another Caroni offering.

Which turned out to be a bit of shame for me as this is in fact another Caroni Offering (we think)! Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
