It was a limited edition release primarly for the German and Italian market. It was released to replace the “Black Label” Ron Zacapa 23 and has itself been superseded by Edicion Negra.

Berry Bros & Rudd The Classic Range Guatemala. When it comes to rum there is little doubt that over the past 20 years Guatemala has become on of the worlds biggest players.
Global rum brand Diageo, now own Ron Zacapa and other brands such as Ron Botran have made an impact on the UK and European market. Newer entries to the scene such as El Pasador de Oro and Ron Barca are also growing in popularity in mainland Europe.
Bacardi Anejo Cuatro Aged 4 Years. Every few years (or is it months?) Bacardi seems to unveil its latest “Premium” offerings. Earlier this year Bacardi once again unveiled some new “Premium” expressions in the form of a new 8 and 10 year old rum.
What took me by surprise was the inclusion of a new Gold rum aged for 4 years. It surprised me as it has landed right from release straight into one the UK’s largest supermarkets – ASDA.
Diplomatico (or Botucal in Germany) Mantuano – meaning nobleman and also a cocoa producing town in Venezeula. Which is where Diplomatico rums are produced.
Diplomatico Mantuano was showcased at the London Rumfest in October 2016. It is a direct replacement for the companies Reserva rum. It has retained the orange parts of that rums colour scheme and the ornate rounded stubby bottle. I always feel these bottles look smaller than most 70cl bottles. Clearly this is an optical illusion as they hold the same amount of liquor.
