Rum Nation Rare Rums Worthy Park 2006 2017

Rum Nation Rare Rums Worthy Park 2006 2017 rum review by the fat rum pirateRum Nation Rare Rums Worthy Park. This is a rum from the second fully operational year for Worthy Park since the distillery was relaunched. The Rum Nation bottlings don’t seem to be as easy to get in the UK as they are in most of mainland Europe. I’m not really sure why this is the case as they would be pretty popular. This added to their fondness for a touch of “dosage” means I don’t review a great deal of their products. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Scotch Malt Whisky Society R6.1 Spice at the Races

Scotch Malt Whisky Society Spice at the Races Rum Review by the fat rum pirate r6.1Scotch Malt Whisky Society R6.1 Spice at the Races. As you can guess the primary fuction of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society is not bottling rum. However, they have bottled a few over the years and released quite a few more late last year.

Now I’ll get one thing of my chest I am not overly keen on the frankly rather stupid names given to the rums – “Spice at the Races” is one of the better ones. “Paddingtons First Sip” anyone? Sadly, it reminds me of some of the pretentious and over the top tasting notes made by whisky commentators in their attempts to be noticed. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Duncan Taylor Uitvlugt 1998 Single Cask Rum

Duncan Duncan Taylor Rum Guyana Uitvlugt review by the fat rum pirateTaylor are an Independent bottler of whisky and rum from Scotland.  This is a Uitvlugt Demerara rum.  Uitvlugt is the name of a now defunct distillery. Some of the stills from this distillery are now housed at Demerara Distillers Limited or the Diamond Distillery if you prefer.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to determine the exact origin of all the Independently bottled Demerara/Guyana rums.  Not only are bottlers using non-standard terms. Some are using the old Distillery names, some the stills and others are just stating Diamond Distillery. There is also an issue with where the stills on which these rums were at the time of bottling. This is particularly confusing the older the rums are. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

WM Cadenhead Travellers Distillery 9 Year Old

WM CADENHEAD TRAVELLERS distlillery rum review by the fat rum pirateWM Cadenhead or Cadenhead’s are an independent Whisky, Rum and Gin bottler from Scotland.   The bottling up for review today is a Cask Strength release from 2015.  It is pretty much sold out now and hard to find.

When released this rum retailed at around the £50 mark.  Part of the reason why it didn’t last too long on the shelves.  It is a 9 year old rum – distilled back in 2005 and bottled in September 2015.  It is from the Travellers Distillery on the Caribbean Island of Belize.
