The Colours of Rum Guyana 1999

The Colours of Rum Guyana 1999 rum review by the fat rum pirateThe Colours of Rum Guyana 1999. It’s likely you will become quite familiar with this new independent bottler from Poland over the coming weeks. I have no fewer than 15 expressions (12 of which are from Barbados’ Foursquare Distillery) of their line up to review. Lucky me indeed!

As is, in the name The Colours of Rum Guyana 1999 comes housed in a green and yellow carboard sleeve. Contained within is an opaque “Velier style” bottle with a chunky cork stopper. The label is green with a yellow typeface being used. The traditional colours of the Guyanese flag are red, green and yellow. It seems that Weath Solutions (the group behind The Colours of Rum) have opted for only two colours per release. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Levy Lane Rum Co Tamosi Karaya

Levy Lane Rum Co Tamosi Karaya rum review by the fat rum pirateLevy Lane Rum Co Tamosi Karaya. This review will round up all the releases to date that have been put on the market by Levy Lane Rum Co so far. From what I understand there are plenty more to follow.

As well as having a “regular” Tamosi rum. Which is a blend of Caribbean rums, Levy Lane Rum Co also released, a limited release Port Cask finished Cask Strength version of roughly the same blend. This is the second of two single casks Demerara rums they released. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Jung and Wulff Luxury Rums No 2 Guyana

Jung and Wulff Luxury Rums No 2 Guyana rum review by the fat rum pirateJung and Wulff Luxury Rums No 2 Guyana. As mentioned in my previous Jung and Wulff review, I wasn’t aware of the history of the importation of spirits into New Orleans. Nor the pivotal role these two entrepreneurs played in it.

Anyhow, Sazerac have decided to honour the pair with a trio of rums. Hailing from arguably the three most recognised rum producing islands/nations in the Caribbean. Least as far as molasses based rum is concerned anyway. Some Agricole producers may think otherwise. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

That Boutique-y Rum Company Diamond Distillery (Versailles Still) 13 Year Old

That Boutique-y Rum Company Diamond Distillery (Versailles Still) 13 Year Old rum review by the fat rum pirateThat Boutique-y Rum Company Diamond Dsitillery (Versailles Still) 13 Year Old. This particular bottling, was one of the first releases by the Boutique-y Rum Company. As a result I am quite surprised that it is still available. Maybe this review might help sell the last few bottles? If it’s positive, of course and if anyone listens to me……. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

The Duchess Guyana Rum Aged 20 Years Armagnac Finish

The Duchess Guyana Rum Aged 20 Years Armagnac FinishThe Duchess Guyana Rum Aged 20 Years Armagnac Finish. This is the final rum in the “Flower” series featuring the artwork of Hans Dillesse, a Dutch artist. The Duchess are an independent bottler from the Netherlands, who began bottling rums in 2018.

The brand are gaining quite a following and this is their latest Single Cask release. If you are in the UK then their rums can be found here. The Duchess Guyana Rum Aged 20 Years Armagnac Finish is a rum from Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL). This particular rum was distilled on the Wooden Coffey Enmore Still. It was distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2019. It has spent 8 years in an ex-Armagnac cask in Europe. I am unsure how much of the its prior 12 years were spent in the Tropics/Europe. El Dorado Rare Collection Albion 2004

El DEl Dorado Rare Collection Albion 2004 rum review by the fat rum pirateorado Rare Collection Albion 2004. Guyanese rum powerhouses Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) caused a bit of a stir in the rum world a few years back when they first released their “Rare Collection” rums.

It is more than a little odd that the actual distillery and producers of Demerara rum, released in the 2000’s and 2010’s are not the ones who take the credit for the best bottlings. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Wood’s Old Navy Rum

Wood's Old Navy Rum Review by the fat rum pirateWood’s Old Navy Rum. Wood’s is a Navy rum brand which is quite a staple in UK bars and Working Mens Clubs. It’s not quite as common as Lamb’s – partly due to its ABV, but it is probably the second best-selling Navy rum in the UK.

You will probably find a number of  “old timers” proclaiming the joys of Rum and Pep (Peppermint cordial) or Rum and Black (Blackcurrant cordial) they will likely know all about Woods Navy Rum or Wood’s 100. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
