Tiki Lovers have a small range of rums which are designed for “Tiki Drinks”. This is Tiki Lovers Dark Rum – Finest Caribbean Blend.
Tiki Lovers rums are produced and bottled for Haromex Limited who also responsible for distributing and importing brands such as Pusser’s, English Harbour and Hampden Estate to the UK. This, if you like, is their own brand bottling.
Cane Island Dominican Republic Aged 5 Years is the final review in the recently released trio of rums from Cane Island.
As mentioned previously Cane Island are a new Independent bottler – at the moment their rums are only available from shops in Amsterdam. Luckily most of these stores deliver to the UK so I didn’t miss out on trying these rums.
This March and April, UK distributor Emporia Brands have put together a calendar of events involving its award-winning St Lucia Distillers range, after the initial success of last year’s programme.
I attended and throughly enjoyed one of these events last year in Newcastle. Dave is a great host and the rum speaks for itself! My write up is here if you have any doubts about attending (your bar really should have some SLD rum in 2017!)
Ron Varadero is a Cuban rum brand which is extremely popular in Spain. They have a number of different expressions. Mostly at the younger end of the scale.
This is one of their two more premium rums. They also have a 15 year old rum in the range. As mentioned Ron Varadero is popular in Spain where, despite its age is often taken with cola.
Cane Island are a new Independent bottler. We have already covered their 8 Year Old Barbados rum – a rather good one from Foursquare.
Up next is an 8 Year Old from Trinidad. Which means it is to young to come from the the now defunct and much heralded Caroni distillery. Leaving us with the only remaining option on Trinidad – Angostura.
Jefferson’s Very Rare 24 year Old Rum is the second release from “The Rum Story” visitor attraction, based in Whitehaven, Cumbria, North West England.
The attraction explores the history of the rum trade and in particular the Jefferson family who until 1998, when the shop the attraction is now housed in closed, where the oldest Wine and Spirits Merchants in the UK. With a history tracing back to 1785.
Another independent release from Berrys’ Bros and Rudd. This time they have bottled a Latin style rum from Panama.
Perhaps the best known rum brand from Panama is Ron Abuelo. Until recently you could argue that one of Don Pancho’s many blends – Ron de Jeremy Reserva was better known/ more infamous. That rum is no longer from Panama – it is now a Caribbean blend.
